Maruti Suzuki launches new Dzire sedan at Rs 6.79 lakh

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd on Monday launched a new version of its compact sedan Dzire at a starting introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 6.79 lakh. The top-end variant of new Dzire comes with an ex-showroom price of Rs 10.14 lakh. The model is also available as subscription rentals from Rs 18,248. 

The previous version of Dzire had an ex-showroom price range of Rs 6.57- 9.34 lakh.

The new model is the fourth generation Dzire. It is also the second model after new Swift hatchback to get the new 1.2 litre Z-Series petrol engine.

Launched in 2008, around 27 lakh units of the Dzire have been sold till date. It has been one of the top selling models in the country in the last 16 years.
“New Dzire shows strong commitment for innovation in line with the evolving customer, privileges and demands,” Hisashi Takeuchi, Maruti Suzuki's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer said. “We are confident that the dusting new desire will strike a perfect balance between elegance and dynamic.”

The new Dzire boasts of sleek, modern stylish design with a sunroof, best fuel efficiency in the category and a five star rating at GNCAP.

Entry-level sedans accounted for over 70% of the sedans sold in India. Maruti Suzuki is the market leader in it with sales of around 1.6 lakh units of Desire last year.

Tata Tigor, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura are other top selling model in this space. Dzire generates a significant part of its sales from the taxi segment, where Maruti Suzuki sells the model under Tour S.

The new Dzire will only for personal mobility, not for commercial use. Maruti will continue to sell the Tour model for commercial use.

Meanwhile, Honda Cars is also gearing up to launch a new version of its Amaze.
