Mahindra Unveils NU_IQ Global SUV Platform; Four Concepts Preview Launches from 2027

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has unveiled a new modular, multi-energy SUV platform, branded NU_IQ, which will serve as the base for its next generation of sport utility vehicles. Four SUV concepts based on the platform – Vision.S, Vision.T, Vision.SXT, and Vision.X: were showcased, with production planned to begin in 2027.

According to the company, NU_IQ will support multiple vehicle types, powertrains, and drivetrain configurations, including front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and both left- and right-hand drive layouts. It is designed to meet global safety standards, enable flat-floor internal combustion models, and offer scalability across various markets.

R Velusamy, President, Automotive Business (Designate) and Managing Director of Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd., described NU_IQ as a strategic blueprint for future SUVs, providing flexibility for design and engineering while maintaining the company’s SUV focus.

Pratap Bose, Chief Design and Creative Officer – Auto and Farm Sectors, said the NU_IQ SUVs represent a new chapter of Mahindra’s “Heartcore” design philosophy. “Based on the theme ‘Opposites Attract,’ where contrasting elements create an expressive new design language, these concepts aim to shape experiences that inspire adventure, confidence, and connection on any terrain,” Bose said.

The four concepts were developed jointly by Mahindra India Design Studio in Mumbai and Mahindra Advanced Design Europe in Banbury, UK, and engineered at Mahindra Research Valley. Each concept represents a different interpretation of the company’s “Heartcore” design philosophy, which will guide upcoming models.

Mahindra stated that the platform is intended to target both domestic and international markets, including left-hand-drive regions, and to address gaps in the SUV market by offering new models across multiple price and performance segments.
