Honda Africa Twin recalled over wiring issue

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has announced a voluntary recall campaign for its flagship adventure motorcycle, the CRF1100L Africa Twin, aligning with a global market action. The recall applies to units manufactured between 2019 and 2025.

According to the recall announcement, continuous steering movement may cause the harness wire of the left-hand switch to bend repeatedly, which, over time, can lead to oxidation at the joint terminal. This defect could result in functional issues such as the horn not operating or difficulty in switching the headlight from low beam to high beam.

To address the issue, HMSI will replace the affected parts as part of the recall exercise. The service will be carried out through Honda’s premium BigWing Topline dealerships across India, with the recall campaign scheduled to begin in the fourth week of January 2026.

Honda has assured owners that they will be contacted directly via phone calls, SMS, or email regarding the recall. In addition, customers can independently verify whether their motorcycle is affected by entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the official Honda website.

This is not the first time Honda has recalled the Africa Twin in India, in November last year, the model was recalled to fix ECU issues in some units.
