EMO Energy and BNC Motors Launch Electric Platform for India's Last-Mile Fleet Market
The partnership aims to deploy up to 15,000 commercial electric vehicles across Indian cities by end of 2026, targeting high-utilisation delivery operations.
Bengaluru-based battery technology company EMO Energy has announced a collaboration with BNC Motors to develop and deploy the EMO Challenger, a platform designed for commercial electric vehicles used in last-mile and fleet delivery operations in India. The announcement was made on February 23, 2026.
The partnership combines BNC Motors' vehicle engineering with EMO Energy's battery management systems. The companies say the platform is built to address the performance demands of operations that run vehicles across multiple daily shifts — a usage pattern that has been associated with accelerated battery degradation in India's urban delivery sector.
Initial deployments of 1,000 vehicles are scheduled in Bangalore and Gurugram, with phased expansion to 15,000 vehicles planned through 2026. Target customers include companies operating in quick commerce, e-commerce, and food delivery.
The EMO Challenger incorporates cell-level electrochemical modelling for real-time battery monitoring, a thermal management system developed for high ambient temperatures, an active balancing battery management system, and fleet-integrated diagnostics. The platform also supports 20-minute fast charging.
"Fleet electrification cannot rely on average performance assumptions," said Sheetanshu Tyagi, co-founder and CEO of EMO Energy. "High-duty operations stress batteries at the cell level. Our architecture anticipates lithium plating, material loss, and thermal inconsistencies before they translate into failure."
Anirudh Ravi Narayanan, CEO of BNC Motors, said the collaboration was aimed at meeting the practical demands of fleet operators. "Commercial EV adoption depends on reliability and service access as much as sustainability," he said.
Beyond the vehicle platform, EMO Energy said the system integrates with its broader energy infrastructure, which includes fast charging, telematics, lifecycle monitoring, and energy storage. The company said this approach is intended to align asset performance with fleet financing structures — an area of growing interest as institutional investors increase exposure to EV fleet operators in India.
EMO Energy was founded in 2022 by Sheetanshu Tyagi and Rahul Patel. The company's battery technology, marketed under the brand name ZEN, is designed to support ultra-fast charging and extended cycle life for commercial and energy storage applications.
BNC Motors is a Coimbatore-based electric vehicle manufacturer established in 2020. The company produces electric scooters and commercial EVs, focusing on durability and higher payload capacity for urban use.
