Elektrobit and Foxconn Sign Joint Development Agreement for AI-Centric Automotive Platform

Elektrobit has signed a joint development agreement with Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) to develop EV.OS, an AI-centric software platform designed for software-defined electric vehicles. The partnership between the automotive software specialist and the global electronics manufacturer aims to create industry-first scaling supply chain innovations for the mobility sector.

The collaboration will produce a comprehensive smart EV platform that includes both hardware and software components. The platform encompasses a reference electrical and electronic architecture (EV.EEA), a non-differentiating EV operating system, and an EV application designed to reduce complexity and total cost of ownership while accelerating production scaling.

The completed EV.OS and EV.EEA system will serve as the foundation for a software-defined vehicle platform, utilizing Elektrobit's software platform integration capabilities. The system will support multiple high-performance and real-time electronic control units and enable service-oriented architectures across all functional domains, including a semantic vehicle API for third-party applications.

"Elektrobit has a unique value proposition in automotive embedded software development with regards to both, development of own software products, and integration and homologation of large-scale automotive series projects. Our collaboration with Foxconn is another milestone in the evolution of software-defined vehicles," said Maria Anhalt, CEO of Elektrobit. "By combining Elektrobit's automotive software expertise with Foxconn's manufacturing and hardware innovation, we are creating a scalable platform that reduces complexity, shortens development cycles and supports future mobility business models."

The development process will be supported by an efficient continuous integration, continuous testing, and continuous deployment toolchain, along with a Level 3 virtualized environment to facilitate the platform's functionality.

Elektrobit operates as an automotive software vendor with over 35 years of industry experience. The company's software powers over five billion devices across more than 600 million vehicles globally. Elektrobit functions as a wholly-owned, independently-operated subsidiary of Continental and specializes in embedded and connected software products for car infrastructure, connectivity, security, automated driving, and user experience applications.
