Cummins India Launches Battery Energy Storage Systems for Domestic Market
The product will help integrate renewable energy sources into power grids and support sectors such as manufacturing, commercial realty, and mining, the company said.
Cummins India today announced the launch of its Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to support India’s clean energy transition. The company will offer the systems in 10ft and 20ft containers with energy outputs ranging from 200 kWh to 2 MWh.
The new BESS range is equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries and features liquid cooling to maintain battery temperature. The systems come with modular, scalable designs for different energy requirements and offer plug-and-play functionality for quick deployment.
According to the company, the product will help integrate renewable energy sources into power grids and support key sectors such as manufacturing, data centers, commercial realty, and mining. Cummins India also noted that its BESS units meet global safety standards and come with a three-tier fire safety system.
Commenting on the launch, Shveta Arya, Managing Director of Cummins India, said the energy mix in India is shifting toward renewables and that the BESS will help achieve sustainability goals. Pankaj Kapoor, Vice President, Distribution Business at Cummins India, stated that the company aims to support customers with cost management and power quality solutions.
The company confirmed the BESS will initially cater to the domestic market and will be supported by its existing service and support network.
Established in 1962, Cummins India provides power solutions across power generation, aftermarket, and exports. The company operates five manufacturing facilities in India and supports customers through over 480 service touchpoints.
