BorgWarner Extends Exhaust Gas Recirculation Supply Contracts Through 2029

BorgWarner, a global leader in sustainable mobility solutions, has extended four volume contracts to supply Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) systems to a major North American automotive manufacturer. The agreement covers EGR valves, coolers, and modules for multiple passenger and light commercial vehicle platforms, with production scheduled to continue through the end of 2029.

The contract extensions apply to both traditional combustion and hybrid vehicle applications. BorgWarner's EGR technology helps vehicle manufacturers meet stringent environmental standards by reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions while simultaneously improving fuel economy.

These EGR systems work by recirculating a portion of engine exhaust gases back into the intake air, effectively lowering combustion temperatures. BorgWarner's systems are engineered for enhanced resistance to thermal fatigue, featuring technologies that can be integrated to form complete EGR solutions.

These designs deliver optimal thermal efficiency and minimal pressure drop, even under demanding operating conditions. Additional features include monoblock architecture for improved compactness and cost efficiency, as well as floating core technology for applications requiring enhanced thermal robustness.

BorgWarner develops its coolers using sophisticated modeling tools to achieve optimized performance. The EGR valves are designed to provide precise control of gas flow with improved sealing capabilities, corrosion resistance, and reliable operation in harsh environments.
