Ashok Leyland Reports Flat Sales in June 2025 Amid Mixed Segment Performance

Ashok Leyland, one of India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, reported largely stable sales figures for June 2025. The company sold 14,184 vehicles in the domestic market during the month, marking a marginal 1% decline compared to 14,261 units sold in June 2024.

In the Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) segment, the performance was mixed. Sales of M&HCV trucks dropped by 12% year-on-year to 6,554 units, down from 7,417 units in June last year. However, this decline was partially offset by a strong 42% growth in M&HCV bus sales, which rose to 2,315 units from 1,635 units a year earlier. Overall, total M&HCV domestic sales stood at 8,869 units, representing a slight 2% drop from 9,052 units in the same month last year.

Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs), on the other hand, showed modest growth. Ashok Leyland sold 5,315 LCVs in the domestic market in June 2025, up by 2% from 5,209 units in June 2024.

For the cumulative April–June period of FY2025–26, domestic sales were largely steady. Total vehicle sales stood at 41,227 units, down 1% compared to 41,559 units in the same period last year. Cumulative M&HCV sales fell 2% to 25,661 units, while cumulative LCV sales inched up by 1% to 15,566 units.

When exports are factored in, the overall performance for June 2025 improved. Total sales (domestic plus exports) increased by 3% year-on-year to 15,333 units, up from 14,940 units in June 2024. The growth was largely driven by a strong showing in the M&HCV bus segment, which surged 56% to 3,172 units, compared to 2,030 units a year ago. M&HCV truck sales, however, declined by 11% to 6,657 units.

As a result, total M&HCV sales including exports rose by 3% to 9,829 units in June 2025. LCVs also contributed with a 2% increase in combined domestic and export sales, totaling 5,504 units.

Cumulatively, for the April–June 2025 period, total vehicle sales including exports reached 44,238 units, marking a 1% increase from 43,893 units in the previous year. While M&HCV trucks showed some weakness, the company’s strong performance in the bus segment and stable LCV demand helped maintain overall momentum.
