ARAI Unveils India's First ADAS Test City Ahead of December Show

The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) announced the completion of its pioneering ADAS Test City project during a press conference held on September 3, 2025. The facility, constructed across 20 acres in Takwe near Talegaon, Pune, represents India's first dedicated road network designed specifically for ADAS validation under real-world conditions.

The state-of-the-art testing facility has been designed as a pseudo city that replicates Indian road networks, allowing automotive manufacturers to test and validate Advanced Driver Assistance Systems in a controlled environment. The facility addresses the unique challenges of Indian driving conditions while providing a safer, secure, and repeatable testing platform for the automotive industry.

To showcase the facility's capabilities, ARAI will host THE ADAS SHOW on December 12, 2025, organized in collaboration with M/s Aayera. The event will feature live demonstrations of various ADAS technologies including Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning Systems, and Traffic Sign Recognition.

Dr. Reji Mathai, Director of ARAI, emphasized the facility's significance for India's automotive safety ecosystem. "This facility will play a crucial role in advancing ADAS capabilities by empowering manufacturers to deliver best-in-class safety solutions to consumers," he stated. The project has been supported by the Ministry of Heavy Industries under their Capital Goods Scheme.

The testing facility is expected to accommodate major automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, and technology companies seeking to validate their systems against Indian road conditions. The ADAS Test City aims to accelerate the adoption of safety technologies while supporting indigenous ADAS and autonomous vehicle technology development.

Previous editions of THE ADAS SHOW have attracted participation from leading automotive companies including Honda, BMW, Volvo, Mahindra, Tata Motors, and Maruti Suzuki, alongside technology providers such as Bosch, ZF, Valeo, and Harman.

The December event will bring together government officials, industry experts, and global automotive leaders to witness live ADAS testing demonstrations and discuss the future of intelligent mobility in India. The facility represents a significant milestone in India's automotive testing infrastructure and safety standards development.
