Amazon India Launches Road Safety Training for 80,000 Delivery Personnel

Amazon India has initiated extensive road safety training workshops targeting over 80,000 delivery associates, partners, and truck drivers across multiple cities to commemorate National Road Safety Month.

The program encompasses both last-mile delivery personnel and mid-mile logistics operators throughout the company's nationwide operations network. The initiative aims to enhance driving practices and promote responsible road behavior among the workforce.

Salim Memon, Director of Operations at Amazon India, emphasized the company's commitment to safety protocols. He stated that road safety forms a core component of the organization's training processes and daily operations, with regular hands-on sessions designed to help drivers navigate real-world conditions safely.

The month-long program combines mandatory field training with interactive sessions covering helmet and seat belt usage, safe driving techniques, speed management, distraction avoidance, and emergency response. Practical exercises focus on lane discipline, traffic signage awareness, maintaining safe vehicle distances, and routine practices including hydration breaks and the 'Phone away before ignition' protocol.

Supporting these training efforts are enforcement measures such as 'No Helmet, No Ride' campaigns, helmet quality inspections, pre-ride vehicle checks, peer-led demonstrations, and distribution of ISI-standard helmets to delivery associates.

The company has also deployed technology-driven safety measures including pre-departure vehicle inspections, helmet compliance monitoring systems, real-time speed alerts, safety reminders at delivery points, and immediate access to third-party emergency ambulance services.

These combined efforts represent Amazon's broader strategy to establish a safety-oriented culture within its operations while contributing to road safety in the communities it serves.
