Toyota’s Etios series drives past 400,000 sales milestone in India

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced that it has achieved the sales milestone of over 400,000 Etios Series cars – the Etios sedan and the Liva hatchback (including the Etios Cross) – in India. According to the company, Liva sales continue to witness a positive growth of 10 percent in the April to September 2018 period as compared to same period last year.

As per Autocar Professional’s sales estimates, Toyota India has altogether sold a total of 406,857 Etios Series cars since their launch in the domestic market in 2011. While the Etios sedan has sold a total of 247,608 units (74,813 petrol and 172,795 diesel), the Liva has sold a total of 159,249 units (56,176 petrol and 103,073 diesel). This also means that an overwhelming 67 percent of the Etios cars sold in India have been diesel engine variants.

High on safety
The company has, over the years, consistently refreshed both the models. Furthermore, the Etios series has set a safety benchmark in the industry by being the first in segment to standardise dual SRS airbags and ABS with EBD across all grades, front seatbelts with pre-tensioner and force limiter, Isofix child seat locks for all models and all grades. And the Global NCAP crash test, the made-in India Etios got a strong four-star rating.

Commenting on the sales milestone, N Raja, deputy managing director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, “We have been continuously striving to upgrade our products as per the evolving needs in the market and offer the best features to our valued customers. We are happy to have sustained the positive response for all variants of Etios series since launch. The Etios series has stood the test of time over the years backed by a unique combination of Toyota’s global promise of quality, durability and reliability. It caters to the needs of Indian families as the most dependable vehicle with best in class quality, safety, comfort, fuel economy and performance. It is our endeavour to set the benchmark in customer delight and we will keep innovating to offer the best products and services to our customer base.”
