Maruti Suzuki launches CelerioX at Rs 457,226

The carmaker is looking to accelerate sales of its hatchbacks. Sporty variant comes within two months of the launch of the new Celerio.

Two months after it launched the new Celerio with a new front fascia and refreshed interiors, Maruti Suzuki India today launched the sportier version of the model, called CelerioX, targeted at young, aspirational buyers. Pricing starts at Rs 457,226 for the Vxi manual transmission variant and goes upwards to Rs 542,645 for the ZXi (O) AMT top-end model (ex-showroom Delhi).

The new variant’s highlights includes an X-theme based graphic around the front grille, cladding on the side body and rear bumper and skid plate details at the rear, use of high gloss black accentuation on the grille, fog garnish, clads, roof garnish and interior accents. The blacked out B-pillar is another highlight.

Since launch in 2014, the Celerio has sold a total of 327,320 units till end-October.

Introducing the CelerioX, R S Kalsi, senior executive director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India, said, “The Celerio has successfully carved a unique position for itself in the competitive compact car segment. With CelerioX, Maruti Suzuki aims to give this well-accepted model a bold, stylish and sporty makeover. We are confident that CelerioX will enhance the brand and bring in younger customers.” 

The CelerioX, which gets a new Paprika Orange as its signature colour, comes with standard driver-side airbag. It is also equipped with a driver side seatbelt reminder. Passenger airbags and ABS are offered as an optional variant across all trims.
