Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today rolled out its 50 lakh (five millionth) CB Shine motorcycle from its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. Launched in April 2006, the motorcycle has a market share share of 36 percent.

The only motorcycle  in the 125cc segment in India to cross this milestone, the new 2017 CB Shine is also the third model to be launched with auto headlight on (AHO) as well as compliant with BS IV emission norms.

The new bike is powered by a 124.73cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine boosted by the Honda Eco technology. Producing 10.16bhp at 7500rpm and peak torque of 5500rpm, the CB Shine sports a chrome- finish muffler and a carburettor cover.

Today, CB Shine creates a new record as the first 125cc motorcycle to reach 50 lakh unit sales milestone.

Commenting on the landmark achievement, Keita Muramatsu, president and CEO, HMSI, said, “India is not only the fastest growing economy in the world, but also one of the most important and fastest growing markets for Honda globally. We have achieved a new milestone for our business in India.”

YS Guleria, senior vice-president (Sales & Marketing), HMSI, said, “We are delighted with the overwhelming customer response. The Shine is the most important motorcycle in our line-up. Together with its sibling CB Shine SP, the CB Shine continues to be the top choice of 125cc motorcycle customers.”

The CB Shine was first launched in April 2006. With regular updates and Honda technology, the CB Shine became India’s single-largest selling 125cc motorcycle by FY2008-09, two years after its launch. The motorcycle clocked its first million customers in 54 months (October 2010). Another 2 million were added in 41 months (April 2014) with the final 2 million lakhs came up in just 32 months (January 2017).

In FY2013-14, while the segment faced de-growth, the CB Shine saw record sales of 740,000 units, with highest-ever single-month sales of 94,300 units in March 2014.
