Dörken's customised corrosion protection
Its high-performance corrosion protection can withstand enormous stresses despite each layer being extremely thin.
The coatings are sold under the brand name DELTA-MKS which offer surface protection for the automotive, electrical, construction and aviation industries. These coatings are particularly resistant to wear thanks to the effective combination of basecoat and topcoat. The basecoat establishes the corrosion protection and provides cathodic protection. Meanwhile, the topcoat complements the properties of the basecoat, influences the chemical or mechanical resistance of the system and provides a wide area of application.
As per the application, both organic and inorganic coatings are available from Dörken. The Delta-MKS basecoat consists of zinc flakes that are connected by an inorganic matrix. If the coating is damaged by a scratch for instance, then it is not the steel that corrodes, but rather the zinc. Unlike electroplating, no hydrogen-induced cracking corrosion occurs which is particularly essential in the case of screws and high tensile steel.
