Marquardt India’s in-house Surface Mount Technology (SMT) lines at its Talegaon facility provide end-to-end electronic assembly capabilities, delivering the precision, traceability, and process control required by the automotive industry. Originally introduced for series production in global markets, digital key combines Ultra-Wideband (UWB), Near Field Communication (NFC), and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technologies to create a highly flexible, cyber-secure access solution for passenger and commercial vehicles.

The platform seamlessly connects smartphones with vehicle access systems, enabling users to lock, unlock, start, and securely share vehicle access through a cloud-based digital key. Developed in accordance with Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) standards, digital key supports a growing ecosystem of smartphone devices
while providing vehicle manufacturers with a scalable, secure, and modular architecture for next-generation vehicle access solutions.

Its flexibility is particularly noteworthy. OEMs can configure the number of UWB modules depending on application requirements, while Marquardt's Software Development Kit (SDK) allows smartphone interfaces to be customized according to individual brand identities. Security remains central to the platform. Leveraging UWB technology, digital key enables highly accurate smartphone localization around the vehicle, reducing vulnerability to relay attacks commonly associated with traditional keyless entry systems. The technology also opens the door to future applications, including gesture-based control of doors, windows, and luggage compartments.

Beyond private vehicle ownership, digital key technology has far-reaching applications for fleet operators, car-sharing providers, and rental companies.
