Zuno General Insurance Launches Add-On Cover for Blended Fuel Damage

Zuno General Insurance announced on Wednesday that it has launched a motor insurance add-on cover, badged "Fuel Guard", to protect private vehicles against accidental damage arising from the use of manufacturer-approved ethanol-blended fuels.

The policy rider covers specified engine components and fuel-delivery systems against unforeseen mechanical damage caused directly by the blended fuel mixtures.

Formerly Edelweiss General Insurance, the company said that the product is eligible for private passenger cars registered on or after April 1, 2023, provided the vehicle manufacturer has formally certified the use of the specific fuel blend.

Under the policy terms, vehicles must adhere to the manufacturer's scheduled maintenance guidelines, with no unauthorised modifications made to the engine or fuel apparatus.

Shanai Ghosh, MD and CEO, Zuno General Insurance, said, "At its core, Fuel Guard is built around a simple idea: as the mobility ecosystem evolves, insurance protection needs to evolve with it. At Zuno, we continuously look at how changes in mobility are shaping customer expectations and ownership experiences. Fuel Guard reflects our effort to translate those insights into simple, practical solutions that make protection more relevant in everyday life."
