German technology giant ZF Group displayed its portfolio of industrial solutions for the mining industry at the International Mining, Equipment, Minerals & Metals Exhibition (IME) 2025, held from October 30 to November 2 in Kolkata.

The company, which brings over 110 years of engineering expertise to the sector, presented drive systems for large mining excavators, swing and drive gears, tunnel boring machines, and the Redulus4F industrial gearbox series designed for stationary mining applications.

ZF's offerings are tailored to address the demands of India's growing infrastructure and mining sectors. With the country's highway network expanding at 34 kilometers per day and increasing 60 percent from 91,287 km in 2014 to 146,204 km in 2024, the company's tunnel boring gearboxes are positioned to support this infrastructure growth.

The product lineup includes drive, swing, and pump distribution gearboxes engineered to handle heavy loads while maintaining compact designs. These systems combine precise machine control with high-power transmission capabilities.

To support operational efficiency, ZF introduced its ProVID smart condition monitoring system, which provides continuous recording, evaluation, and documentation of powertrain performance. The system enables early detection of deviations, contributing to increased machine lifetime and operational efficiency.

Akash Passey, President of ZF Group India, emphasized the company's commitment to the Indian market. He noted that the solutions presented are designed to enhance productivity, safety, and sustainability in mining operations, with support extending beyond products to include comprehensive customer service throughout operational lifecycles.

The company operates 161 production facilities across 30 countries and employs approximately 161,600 people worldwide. In fiscal 2024, ZF reported sales of €41.4 billion.

ZF's Industrial Technology division encompasses the company's off-road applications, including agricultural and construction machinery, forklifts, marine propulsion, rail systems, and wind power technology. The division focuses on conventional and electrified solutions alongside digital products aimed at making off-road mobility more sustainable and reliable.
