ZF Group is showcasing its locally manufactured intelligent system solutions for construction equipment at EXCON 2025, demonstrating the company's commitment to India's infrastructure sector through expanded production capabilities.
The global technology supplier is presenting its portfolio at Hall 1 Booth G149, featuring transmission and axle solutions produced at its recently inaugurated facility in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The state-of-the-art plant, which opened in June 2025, spans 10,000 square meters and represents a €20 million investment.
Local Manufacturing Push
The new facility aligns with ZF's "Make in India for India and the World" strategy, producing equipment for both domestic customers and global original equipment manufacturers. The plant manufactures transmissions and axles for construction equipment and railways, supporting the Indian government's infrastructure development initiatives.
"At ZF Group, we're proud to deepen our commitment to India's dynamic construction sector by expanding local production," said Akash Passey, President of ZF Group India. He noted the investment supports the company's regional ambitions while meeting market demands for cleaner and digitally enabled machinery.
Product Innovations
ZF is highlighting several product lines designed for construction applications:
The ERGOPOWER powershift transmissions for wheel loaders feature standard 4-speed units with optional efficiency packages including 5-speed and DirectDrive configurations. These systems deliver fuel savings of up to 15 percent and productivity improvements of up to 40 percent while providing smooth shifting with minimal disruption.
MULTITRAC rigid axles complement the transmission systems, offering compact design and wet multi-disc brakes that reduce braking losses. The axles are engineered for heavy-duty loader applications with enhanced ground clearance and reliability under demanding conditions.
For backhoe loaders, the combined ERGOPOWER and MULTITRAC systems provide performance across diverse digging and loading operations, supporting high torque requirements and continuous shifting demands.
The ECOMIX I hydrostatic drum drives for concrete mixer trucks deliver compact design with high power density, simplified installation, and extended service life under challenging operating conditions.
Advanced Braking Technology
ZF is also presenting its brake-by-wire solution for the off-highway sector. The technology enables vehicle manufacturers to control deceleration through electronic signals that adjust brake pressure, eliminating hydraulic lines in the cab and facilitating development of remote and autonomous operation capabilities.
The company provides hydraulic and electrohydraulic braking systems for heavy-duty, off-highway, construction, mining, and agriculture applications.
