Zelio E-Mobility plans Coimbatore Plant to Expand Southern Manufacturing Footprint

Electric two- and three-wheeler manufacturer Zelio E-Mobility is setting up a new manufacturing facility in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, as part of its effort to expand operations in southern India. The plant will focus on assembly of electric scooters as well as storage and logistics activities.

The facility will span around 39,000 sq. ft. and is expected to begin its operational setup in April 2026. Commercial operations are projected to start by July 2026.

According to Kunal Arya, Managing Director of Zelio E-Mobility, the new unit will help the company strengthen its presence in South India, improve supply chain efficiency and support the expansion of its dealer network in the region. He said the facility is intended to enable faster delivery of the company’s electric mobility products while supporting the adoption of electric transportation.

The Coimbatore plant will become the company’s fourth manufacturing location in India. Zelio currently operates production facilities in Haryana and Odisha. Its Ladwa plant in Haryana spans about 2,63,450 sq. ft., while the Patan plant in the same state covers around 2,52,301 sq. ft. The company also operates a facility in Cuttack, Odisha, with an area of roughly 30,500 sq. ft., supporting production, assembly and regional operations.

The expansion follows the company’s public listing in 2025. Zelio raised ₹78.34 crore through its initial public offering, which included a fresh issue of ₹58.84 crore and an offer for sale of 11.4 lakh shares worth ₹15.50 crore. The issue was subscribed about 1.5 times overall, with participation from institutional and retail investors. The company’s shares listed at ₹154.90 on October 8, 2025, representing a 13.9 percent premium over the issue price, and are traded on the BSE SME platform.

In its first reporting cycle after the listing, the company reported consolidated revenue of ₹134.78 crore and a profit after tax of ₹11.87 crore for the first half of FY26.

Zelio manufactures electric two-wheelers under the Zelio brand and electric three-wheelers under the Tanga brand. Its electric scooter lineup includes low-speed models such as X Men, X Men 2.0, Gracy i, Gracy+, Gracy Pro, Little Gracy, Eeva, Eeva ZX+, Legender and the Logix cargo scooter, along with the high-speed model Mystery. In the three-wheeler segment, the company produces e-rickshaw models including Tanga Butterfly and Tanga Fine.

The company currently operates a dealer network of more than 350 outlets across more than 20 states and union territories in India.
