Zapp partners with Bounce Infinity to make scooters at Bhiwandi plant
Partnership aims to support Zapp’s entry into the Indian market and accelerate the assembly and distribution of Zapp’s i300 urban motorcycle.
Bounce Infinity has partnered with Zapp, for the assembly and distribution of Zapp’s i300 electric urban motorcycle in India. Bounce Infinity will provide contract manufacturing services for Zapp's electric vehicles based on the specifications provided by Zapp, the press release noted.
Swin Chatsuwan, Founder and CEO of Zapp EV, said, “Bounce’s manufacturing expertise and market presence in India is expected to accelerate Zapp’s commercial rollout in key urban areas in the country. India is already one of the largest markets in the world for sales of two-wheelers, and the share of electric vehicles is forecast to reach 45% by 2030. We think the design attributes of the i300 make it an excellent solution for personal mobility with India’s growing purchasing power and urban densification.”
Bounce Infinity will also support Zapp EV in obtaining the necessary approvals for homologating its products for sale in India. The entire process is expected to be completed within 120 days from the effective date of the Memorandum of Understanding, ensuring a swift and efficient market launch. Additionally, both companies will explore the possibility of a distribution partnership to further enhance the availability of Zapp’s products across India.
Vivekananda Hallekare, CEO and Co-founder of Bounce Infinity said, “By combining our manufacturing strengths with Zapp’s innovative product lineup, we aim to make India a two-wheeler manufacturing hub for the entire world.”
Zapp utilises an asset-light and capital-efficient business model, enabled by its contract manufacturing partnerships that are expected to provide sufficient capacity to quickly scale production without incurring significant capital expenditures. The commercial rollout of Zapp’s i300 is not dependent on any dedicated charging infrastructure, as the removable and portable battery packs can be charged from any standard wall socket.
Bounce Infinity has over 70 dealerships across India and is rapidly scaling its swap network. Bounce Infinity recently signed a 30,000-scooter order with SUN Mobility, ensuring seamless and efficient energy management for its users.
Additionally, the company is finalising similar agreements with major food delivery, quick commerce, and last-mile delivery companies, further expanding its reach. The collaboration with Clean Electric highlights Bounce Infinity’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions in the electric vehicle ecosystem, solidifying its position as a leader in sustainable urban mobility.
