Yulu and Zeco Mobility launch shared EV services in Kochi
Under the partnership, Yulu has provided Zeco Mobility with its 'Miracle' EVs and advanced mobility-tech platform, enabling seamless operations.
Yulu, a shared electric two-wheeler mobility provider, has announced the commencement of its services in Kochi in collaboration with local firm Zeco Mobility. This strategic partnership marks Yulu's second operational expansion through its Yulu Business Partner (YBP) initiative, following a successful rollout in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
Zeco Mobility, spearheaded by clean energy entrepreneur R Shyam Shankar, will independently operate Yulu’s electric vehicle (EV) service in Kochi, leveraging infrastructural and technological support from Yulu. The launch coincides with the auspicious occasion of Vishu, adding significance to the event.
Kochi, known for its eco-friendly initiatives such as the Cochin International Airport and India’s first Water Metro, aligns perfectly with Yulu and Zeco's vision of sustainable mobility. Yulu's shared EVs, deployed by Zeco Mobility across key areas like Marine Drive, Broadway, and MG Road, aim to enhance sustainable tourism and daily commutes with zero tailpipe emissions and affordability.
Amit Gupta, Co-founder & CEO of Yulu, commenting on the announcement said “The vision of YBP is to fast-track EV adoption by partnering entrepreneurs who want to pioneer mobility initiatives in their cities. We are delighted to join hands with Zeco Mobility’s founder R Shyam Shankar, who is a committed and thoughtful entrepreneur with the ambition and vision to commence a green mobility revolution in the city.”
R Shyam Shankar, Founder of Zeco Mobility, said “The sustainable and technology-first aspects of this service are in perfect sync with Kochiites’ pride in the city and their willingness to accept technology-based solutions in every aspect of life. The compactness and inclusivity of these EVs makes them ideal for tourists and locals who want to explore Kochi’s beautiful coastline, monuments, markets, and food hotspots. We are confident that the city will embrace Yulu with open arms.”
Under the partnership, Yulu has provided Zeco Mobility with its 'Miracle' EVs and advanced mobility-tech platform, enabling seamless operations. These lightweight, AI-enabled EVs, operated through Yulu's smartphone app, offer a maximum speed of 25 kmph and do not require a driver's license. Additionally, Yulu has supplied swappable EV batteries and chargers through Yuma, its associate providing Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS).
