Yohan Poonawalla to Display Seven Rolls-Royce Phantoms at UAE Rally
Collector showcases century of Phantom heritage at prestigious 1000 Miglia Experience UAE, with vehicles spanning 1928 to 2024, including models owned by royalty and Queen Elizabeth II.
Indian industrialist and classic car collector Yohan Poonawalla is set to make automotive history at the upcoming 1000 Miglia Experience UAE by presenting seven Rolls-Royce Phantom models spanning nearly a century of the marque's production.
The collection, which marks the first time seven Phantoms have been displayed together at a single global event, will be featured as part of a curated "Phantom Centenary Exhibition" celebrating 100 years of the Rolls-Royce Phantom model line from 1925 to 2025.
Among the vehicles on display are a 1928 Phantom I formerly owned by the Maharaja of Kashmir, a 1933 Phantom II once belonging to racing driver Sir Malcolm Campbell, and a 1979 Phantom VI previously owned by Queen Elizabeth II. The collection also includes a 1937 Phantom III from the Maharaja of Panchkote, a 1962 Phantom V from the former Ruler of Qatar, a 2005 Phantom VII that was the first to arrive in India after the model's relaunch, and a 2024 Phantom VIII described as the last extended wheelbase model with a privacy suite produced globally.
Two of the Phantoms — the Phantom VI and Phantom VII — will participate in the rally itself, joining 120 teams from around the world on scenic routes through the Emirates.
"Representing India for the fourth time in a row at the 1000 Miglia Experience UAE is a proud and emotional moment," said Poonawalla, Chairman of the Poonawalla Group. "These Phantoms are not mere vehicles, they are living expressions of history, art and legacy."
The 1000 Miglia Experience UAE, hosted by Octanium Experiences in collaboration with 1000 Miglia Srl Italy, takes place from November 30 to December 4, 2025. The event draws inspiration from the original 1000 Miglia rally founded in Italy in 1927, known as "the most beautiful race in the world."
Michelle Poonawalla, Director of the Poonawalla Group, noted that the showcase reflects her husband's dedication to preserving automotive heritage and sharing India's history with international audiences.
Poonawalla, often called the "Rolls-Royce Man" in collecting circles, has become known for his extensive collection of rare and historically significant luxury automobiles. His participation in the UAE rally represents continued recognition of Indian collectors in the global classic car community.
