Yamaha has taken the wraps off the Aerox-E, the all-electric version of its popular Aerox scooter, at an event held in Mumbai. The Aerox-E is powered by dual 1.5kWh detachable batteries paired with a motor that delivers 9.5kW of peak power and 48Nm of torque. Yamaha says the batteries use high-energy type cells aimed at enhancing performance. The scooter has a certified range of 106km and tips the scales at 139kg, making it 13kg heavier than the petrol-powered Aerox 155.

The Aerox-E offers Eco, Standard, and Power riding modes, along with a Boost mode that provides short bursts of extra performance for quick overtakes. Braking duties are handled by front and rear disc brakes, with ABS offered at the front.

Design-wise, the Aerox-E stays true to the sporty look of its ICE counterpart, retaining the twin-LED headlight and LED tail-lamp setup. However, it now features a TFT instrument cluster with app-based connectivity, replacing the LCD unit seen on the Aerox 155. Yamaha has also tweaked the ergonomics for a more engaging riding experience, though boot space has been reduced due to the redesigned rear section.

For now, Yamaha has only showcased the Aerox-E, with launch details yet to be announced. Apart from the Aerox EV, Yamaha has also showcased the River Indie based EC-06 electric scooter.
