Xiaomi Launches Second-Generation SU7 Electric Sedan With Upgraded Performance, Safety, and AI Features
The new SU7 line — priced from RMB 219,900 — arrives two years after Xiaomi's debut in the electric vehicle market, with three variants targeting China's competitive premium sedan segment.
Xiaomi launched the new-generation SU7 electric sedan in Beijing on March 19, 2026, offering three variants — Standard, Pro, and Max — priced at RMB 219,900, RMB 249,900, and RMB 303,900 respectively. The vehicle is available for pre-order through Xiaomi's WeChat Mini Program and EV App, though it is sold exclusively in mainland China.
The new model's headline powertrain upgrade is the HyperEngine V6s Plus motor, which is now fitted across all three variants. The motor reaches a maximum of 22,000 rpm, enabling a 0–100 km/h time of 3.08 seconds and a top speed of 265 km/h. Range figures — measured under China's CLTC testing cycle — stand at 720 km for the Standard, 902 km for the Pro, and 835 km for the Max. The Pro's 902 km figure represents the highest in the lineup. An ultra-fast charging system delivers up to 670 km of CLTC range in 15 minutes, with a 10–80% charge achievable in 12 minutes at a peak rate of 5.2C.
On the safety front, Xiaomi states that 90.3% of the body structure uses 2,200 MPa ultra-high-strength steel and aluminium alloy — a material it says offers 40% greater tensile strength than the 1,500 MPa steel common in comparable vehicles. A new integrated roll cage runs from the A-pillar to the C-pillar using hot gas forming. The full lineup now includes nine airbags as standard, adding coverage for rear-passenger side-impact scenarios. An ASIL-D rated battery system performs emergency power cutoffs within 4 milliseconds, and the battery pack underwent 1,231 test items, exceeding national standards in 96% of them.
The vehicle's assisted driving system runs on the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor platform, rated at up to 700 TOPS of computing power — a 37.8% increase over the previous generation. Xiaomi has also introduced what it calls XLA Architecture, built on its MiMo-Embodied foundation model, which the company describes as a shift from "imitating humans" toward contextual understanding and reasoning. New features include voice-controlled lane changes and speed adjustments, voice-activated parking, and parking-spot-level navigation inside commercial garages, including routing to elevators and charging stations.
The sensor suite supporting these functions includes LiDAR, a 4D millimetre-wave radar, eleven cameras, and twelve ultrasonic radars. Cameras now include anti-glare coatings to improve performance in backlit or high-glare conditions, and a front and rear camera dirt detection system automatically triggers a high-pressure wash when soiling is detected.
Interior changes include a redesigned cabin with a symmetrical central console layout, Nappa leather on the steering wheel, and nearly 100% of high-contact surfaces wrapped in soft-touch materials. Seat ventilation and heating are now standard across the lineup. The driver's seat is 18-way power adjustable, while the front passenger seat optionally reclines to a 123-degree zero-gravity position. Rear seats recline up to 121 degrees, and headrests have been widened for improved support on longer journeys. All interior materials carry OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification. The Max variant introduces an Ultra-Quiet Cabin, reducing noise by more than 4 dB compared with the previous generation, bringing it to a level Xiaomi equates with D-segment luxury sedans.
The vehicle's computing architecture integrates a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip for cabin functions alongside the NVIDIA Thor chip for assisted driving, within a single Four-in-One Domain Control Module. The system supports Wi-Fi 7 and UWB connectivity. The XiaoAi voice assistant has been updated with multi-session memory, real-time web search, cross-app command execution, and the ability to recognise vehicles, road signs, buildings, and common plants and animals.
Xiaomi entered the electric vehicle market in March 2024 with the first-generation SU7, which sold out its initial allocation within minutes of launch. The company has since expanded its EV lineup with the SU7 Ultra — a high-performance variant — and the YU7 SUV. Xiaomi Corporation, founded in 2010 and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, reported approximately 741.7 million monthly active users as of September 2025 across its smartphone and tablet devices, and approximately 1.035 billion smart devices connected to its IoT platform. The company ranked 297th on the Fortune Global 500 in July 2025.
The Xiaomi SU7 Series is not available for purchase outside of mainland China.
