Xiaomi Corporation announced Thursday the launch of its first sport utility vehicle, the YU7, marking the company's second entry into the electric vehicle market following the successful debut of its SU7 sedan.
The electric SUV launches with three configurations priced between RMB 253,500 and RMB 329,900. The base Standard model offers rear-wheel drive with 835 kilometers of CLTC-rated range, while the Pro and Max variants feature all-wheel drive systems with ranges up to 770 kilometers.
All YU7 models utilize Xiaomi's upgraded HyperEngine V6s Plus motor system, capable of 22,000 rpm with peak power output of 288 kW. The top-tier Max variant delivers 690 horsepower and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.23 seconds, with a maximum speed of 253 km/h.
The vehicle's 800V silicon carbide platform supports rapid charging at rates up to 5.2C, enabling 10-80% battery charging in 12 minutes. Xiaomi reports compatibility with over 99% of mainland China's 1.4 million public charging stations.
The YU7 offers nine exterior color options and incorporates proportional design elements including a 3:1 wheelbase-to-body ratio. Interior configurations include four color schemes with premium materials certified to OEKO-TEX Class 1 standards and Nappa leather upholstery.
Standard features across all variants include double-laminated glass, over 200 noise-control enhancements, and comprehensive storage solutions totaling 36 compartments. The cabin provides 141 liters of front trunk space and 687 liters of rear cargo capacity, expandable to 1,758 liters with rear seats folded.
The SUV features Xiaomi's Four-in-One Domain Control Module powered by NVIDIA's DRIVE AGX Thor platform, delivering 700 TOPS of computing power for assisted driving functions. The system includes LiDAR, 4D millimeter-wave radar, 11 high-definition cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors.
Xiaomi's HyperVision Panoramic Display utilizes triple Mini LED screens to project information onto the windshield area, while the upgraded XiaoAI assistant supports multimodal interaction through an 8-microphone array with external vehicle communication capabilities.
The vehicle integrates with Xiaomi's "Human × Car × Home" ecosystem, offering compatibility with iPhone users through UWB unlocking, Apple CarPlay integration, and Apple Watch vehicle controls. The system supports various accessories and expansion options through roof rail connections and magnetic mounting points.
Construction incorporates 2200 MPa ultra-high strength steel in critical areas, with the vehicle's Armor-Cage Steel-Aluminum Hybrid Body achieving 90.2% high-strength materials composition. Torsional stiffness measures 47,610 N·m/degree, positioning the SUV competitively within its segment.
Development testing covered 10.62 million kilometers across 653 test vehicles, including 6.49 million kilometers of road testing over 539 days in 296 cities. Environmental testing ranged from 53°C temperatures in Turpan to -41°C conditions in Heihe, with high-altitude validation at 5,380 meters in Tibet.
A recent 24-hour endurance test supervised by the China Automotive Technology & Research Center resulted in a 3,944-kilometer distance record, demonstrating the vehicle's durability and charging infrastructure compatibility.
The YU7 enters China's competitive electric SUV market as Xiaomi's second vehicle offering, following the company's transition from consumer electronics to automotive manufacturing. The launch comes as Chinese automakers increasingly compete with traditional manufacturers in the premium electric vehicle segment.
Xiaomi reported that its previous model, the SU7 sedan, achieved top safety ratings under C-IASI 3G+ and C-NCAP standards, while ranking first in two categories within J.D. Power's 2025 New Energy Vehicle report for large pure-electric vehicles.
Pre-orders for the YU7 opened Thursday through Xiaomi's EV app and WeChat Mini Program, with deliveries planned for mainland China initially. The company has not announced international availability timelines.
Founded in 2010, Xiaomi has expanded from smartphone manufacturing to encompass consumer electronics, smart home products, and electric vehicles. The company reported 718.8 million monthly active users globally for smartphones and tablets as of March 2025, with 943.7 million connected smart devices on its AIoT platform.
