Volvo Introduces Refreshed XC60 at Rs 71.90 lakh

Volvo Car India has introduced the refreshed XC60 SUV in India, with introductory prices starting at Rs 71.90 lakh, ex-showroom. The XC60 is Volvo’s best-selling model globally with over 2.7 million units on the roads the world over, and the facelifted model gets a host of modern-technology features.

The refreshed XC60, which is assembled as a CKD at the company's facility in Karnataka, gets an updated exterior finish with a revised grille, bumper, and headlamps, as well as a new set of vertically-oriented, all-LED tail lights. The compact SUV now comes with seven colour options - the largest range Volvo has offered on its offerings in India yet.

On the inside, the facelifted XC60 gets a new blond upholstery with massage front seats that offer five massage programmes and three intensity levels.

There are wood inlays on the dashboard, and chrome accents on the air-con vents - all cohesively offering a minimalist Scandinavian cabin ambience - which has also been updated in terms of the NVH with better noise insulation.

In terms of on-board technology, the refreshed XC60 comes with a portrait-oriented, 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system running Automotive Android as its operating software, embedded on Snapdragon Cockpit platform chipset.

While a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster does duty for providing driving information, there is a 1,410W Bowers & Wilkins sound setup with 15 speakers, and a PM 2.5 purifier on offer as well.

The SUV also gets a host of active-safety ADAS features, including lane-keep assist, BLIS, adaptive cruise control, and city safety suite that detects pedestrians and motorbikes and autonomously brakes to avoid an accident.

The facelifted XC60 comes powered by a 250hp and 360Nm, 48V mild-hybrid gasoline engine that is E20 compliant and comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

“Globally, we have PHEVs in our portfolio, but the Indian tax structure is not conducive as of today, and if things change, we can bring the PHEV. But as of today, we are launching the mild-hybrid version of the XC60,” said Jyoti Malhotra, MD, Volvo Car India.

“In the last 6-7 months, we have seen a lot of interest in EVs, and this trend is good for India's passenger vehicle market. With regard the competition, we welcome more carmakers into the market,” Malhotra added.
