Volvo EX90, ES90 to Launch in India on October 12

Volvo India will launch the EX90 SUV and ES90 sedan in the country on October 12, 2026, adding two new flagship electric models to its line-up. The ES90 will also mark Volvo India's return to the luxury sedan segment following the discontinuation of the S90 in 2025.

The two models are based on Volvo's SPA2 platform and feature an 800V electrical architecture. Global specifications include a 92kWh single-motor rear-wheel-drive configuration and a 106kWh dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. The 92kWh version develops 333hp and 480Nm, while the 106kWh Twin Motor produces 456hp and 670Nm. A Twin Motor Performance version produces 680hp and 870Nm.

The EX90 completes the 0-100kph sprint in 6.6 seconds in its 92kWh configuration, 5.3 seconds with the 106kWh Twin Motor and 4 seconds in Twin Motor Performance specification. The ES90 takes 6.9 seconds in its 92kWh form, while the Twin Motor variant does the same sprint in 5.4 seconds.

Range varies between the two models due to their different body styles. The EX90 is rated for up to 608km of WLTP range, while the ES90 can travel up to 696km. Both models support DC charging at up to 350kW, with Volvo claiming a 10-80% charge time of 22 minutes.

The EX90 measures 5,037mm long, 1,964mm wide and 1,744mm tall, with a 2,985mm wheelbase. Its exterior uses Volvo's latest design language, including T-shaped headlamps, a grille-less front fascia and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. The SUV has a claimed drag coefficient of 0.29 and is available globally with wheels ranging from 20 to 22 inches.

The ES90 shares several styling elements with the EX90 but adopts a lower sedan profile. Its drag coefficient of 0.25 makes it Volvo's most aerodynamic production model to date. Wheel sizes range from 20 to 22 inches.

Inside, both models feature a minimalist dashboard centred around a 14.5-inch portrait touchscreen running Google-based software. A 9-inch digital driver's display and 13.2-inch head-up display are also available.

The EX90 is offered as a seven-seater, with a six-seat configuration available in some markets, while the ES90 is a five-seater. Boot capacity is rated at up to 384 litres in the EX90 with all three rows in use and 424 litres in the ES90. The SUV also gets a 45-litre front storage compartment, compared with 27 litres in the sedan.

Equipment across the two models includes 5G connectivity, over-the-air updates, digital key functionality, four-zone climate control, cabin air purification, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, powered front seats, panoramic glass roof, Bose audio system and automatic parking assistance. Both models are also equipped with advanced driver assistance systems and vehicle-to-load functionality.

The EX90 has received five-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP and Australasian NCAP, while the ES90 has yet to undergo an NCAP crash assessment.
With the EX90 and ES90, Volvo will strengthen its position in India's premium EV segment while expanding its flagship offering beyond the existing XC90 and electric models. The two launches also underline the brand's strategy of positioning electrification at the top end of its India portfolio.
