VE Commercial Vehicles Limited, operating under the Volvo-Eicher brand, has invested ₹5 crore to establish a Regional Competency Development Centre at VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology. The facility, inaugurated at the campus E Block, will operate for an initial 10-year period with potential for renewal.
The centre will serve dual purposes: training Eicher employees and dealer personnel from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, while providing practical training opportunities for students and faculty in automobile, mechanical, electrical, and electronics engineering departments. The facility includes three diesel vehicles, one electric vehicle, cut models of automobile systems, and diagnostic boards for automotive and electrical systems.
According to Sumit Diwan, National Head of Customer Care at VE Commercial Vehicles Limited, the investment reflects the company's approach to building technical capabilities and developing talent pipelines. The company plans to recruit from the institute's automobile engineering department and has indicated a focus on encouraging female student participation in hiring.
D. Suresh Babu, President of Vignana Jyothi, stated that the partnership aligns with the institute's focus on industry-oriented education and provides students access to real-world automotive technologies and systems.
The collaboration addresses training needs in both conventional automotive technologies and emerging electric mobility systems. Students will work alongside industry professionals on actual vehicles and equipment, gaining exposure to systems currently used in commercial vehicle operations.
VNR VJIET, established in 1995 by the Vignana Jyothi Society, operates as an autonomous institution affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad. The institute holds NAAC accreditation with an A++ grade and offers undergraduate and postgraduate engineering programs.
