Volkswagen Launches Tayron R-Line SUV in India at ₹46.99 Lakh

Volkswagen India has officially introduced the Tayron R-Line in the Indian market, pricing the luxury SUV at an introductory ex-showroom price of INR 46,99,000. The launch marks the German automaker's latest push into India's growing premium SUV segment, targeting buyers who seek a blend of performance, technology, and comfort.

The Tayron R-Line arrives with a sportier profile defined by R-Line-specific styling elements on the front bumper and doors, IQ Light HD Matrix LED headlamps, and 19-inch Coventry alloy wheels. Illuminated front and rear logos add a premium touch, while the overall silhouette communicates the brand's German design language.

The vehicle is available in seven colour options: Dolphin Grey Metallic, Oyster Silver Metallic, Ultraviolet Metallic, Cipressino-Green Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, and Oryx White Mother-of-Pearl Effect.

Under the hood sits a 2.0-litre TSI EA888 evo4 turbocharged petrol engine producing 204 PS and 320 Nm of torque. Power is routed through a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission to all four wheels via Volkswagen's 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. Six selectable driving profiles allow drivers to tailor the car's behaviour to conditions and preference.

Inside, the cabin is anchored by a large 38.1 cm infotainment touchscreen and a 26.03 cm digital cockpit display. Front occupants are treated to 12-way electrically adjustable seats with memory for up to three settings, heating, ventilation, an 8-mode massage function, and lumbar support.

Rear passengers benefit from reclining and sliding second-row seats. A panoramic sunroof and 30-shade ambient lighting, including an illuminated R insert on the dashboard,  round out the interior ambience.

The Tayron R-Line is equipped with a three-zone Climatronic climate control system, an augmented reality (AR) head-up display, and an 11-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with 700 watts of output. Connectivity features include dual 45W USB-C ports and wireless charging for two mobile devices simultaneously. A gesture-controlled electric tailgate adds to everyday convenience.

Volkswagen has equipped the Tayron R-Line with 14 Level 2 ADAS functions, nine airbags, Electronic Stability Control, and Hill Ascent and Descent Control, a notable safety package for its price point.

The Tayron R-Line measures 4,792 mm in length, 1,866 mm in width, and 1,665 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,789 mm, placing it firmly in the mid-size SUV category.

Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said the Tayron R-Line was designed for customers who value performance alongside luxury, and described it as part of the brand's commitment to bringing globally admired, performance-oriented products to the Indian market.

With 23 distinct features across design, technology, safety, and performance, the Tayron R-Line is positioned as a comprehensive offering in the competitive premium SUV space.
