Volkswagen India Opens Pre-Bookings for Tiguan R-Line, Announces Golf GTI Mk 8.5 for 2025

Volkswagen India has started accepting pre-bookings for the Tiguan R-Line, featuring a 2.0L TSI engine with 4MOTION technology. The Golf GTI Mk 8.5, launching in Q2 2025, will be available for purchase exclusively online.

Volkswagen India Opens Pre-Bookings for Tiguan R-Line, Announces Golf GTI Mk 8.5 for 2025

Volkswagen India has opened pre-bookings for the Tiguan R-Line, a new addition to its SUV lineup, while also inviting customer interest for the Golf GTI Mk 8.5, set to launch in the second quarter of 2025.

The Tiguan R-Line, powered by a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine with 4MOTION technology, delivers 204 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque. It measures 4,539 mm in length, 1,859 mm in width, and 1,656 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,680 mm. The SUV will be available in six color options: Persimmon Red Metallic, Cipressino Green Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White with Mother of Pearl Effect, and Oyster Silver Metallic.

The Golf GTI, a globally recognised hot hatch, is expected to offer a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine, producing around 241 hp, and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Known for its precise handling and driver-focused performance, the Golf GTI is a performance-oriented model aimed at driving enthusiasts.  

Volkswagen India is a subsidiary of the German automotive manufacturer Volkswagen AG. Operating in the Indian market since 2007, the company has focused on offering a range of vehicles known for their build quality, safety features, and driving dynamics. The brand’s product lineup includes sedans, SUVs, and performance-oriented models, catering to a diverse customer base.  

The company manufactures and assembles vehicles at its plant in Chakan, Pune, which serves both domestic and export markets. Volkswagen India has introduced several models tailored to local preferences, including the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus, developed under the India-specific MQB A0-IN platform. These models are part of the brand’s strategy to offer localized products while maintaining global quality standards.  

Volkswagen India has expanded its presence through a network of dealerships and service centers across the country. The company has emphasized safety, with its vehicles consistently achieving high safety ratings in crash tests. It also integrates advanced technology in its cars, including digital displays, connected car features, and driver assistance systems.
