Volkswagen India has launched the new Taigun with a starting price of ₹10.99 lakh (ex-showroom), introducing a refreshed variant lineup, expanded feature set, and a new 8-speed automatic transmission option paired with the 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine.

The updated SUV carries up to 40 new updates compared to its predecessor, spanning design, technology, safety, and cabin refinement. Standout additions include a full LED light band at the front, illuminated VW logos at both ends, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch fully digital cockpit on higher trims, and a panoramic sunroof. The vehicle retains its 5-star Global NCAP safety rating and comes with six airbags as standard across all variants.

Alongside the car, Volkswagen has announced what it describes as an industry-leading assured buyback program guaranteeing a residual value of 75% of the ex-showroom price, subject to usage of up to three years and 30,000 kilometres. The program is open to buyers who book a new Taigun on or before May 31, 2026.

The range-topping GT Plus variants are powered by a 1.5-litre TSI engine producing 150 PS and paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic. The engine features Active Cylinder Technology for improved fuel efficiency under light loads. All other variants continue with the 1.0-litre TSI, now available with a new 8-speed automatic in addition to the existing 6-speed manual. Prices across the lineup range from ₹10.99 lakh for the base Comfortline MT to ₹19.29 lakh for the GT Plus Sport DSG (all ex-showroom).

Commenting on the launch, Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said the Taigun has been a cornerstone of the company's India SUVW story, and that the new model aims to deliver the right combination of features, performance, design, and safety. Kohli also noted that higher trim levels have historically accounted for nearly 60% of Taigun sales, a trend the company expects to continue with the new model's variant packaging.

On the buyback initiative, Kohli described it as a package designed to bolster buyer confidence in ownership and offer a structured opportunity to upgrade. The program is applicable for new Taigun bookings received until May 31, 2026. Volkswagen India's current passenger car lineup includes the Virtus sedan, Tiguan R-Line, Golf GTI, and the Tayron R-Line alongside the Taigun.
