Vinkesh Gulati Appointed as New ASDC Chairperson

The Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) has appointed Vinkesh Gulati as its new chairperson, marking a leadership transition as the organization prepares for the next phase of automotive sector skill development.

Gulati succeeds F R Singhvi, who concluded his tenure after overseeing the council's expansion and reform initiatives. The appointment comes at a time when the automotive industry faces significant technological shifts, particularly with the adoption of electric vehicles and advanced manufacturing processes.

The new chairperson brings extensive experience from his previous role as President of the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) from 2020 to 2022. He currently serves as head of United Automobiles and the United Group of Institutions. Within ASDC, Gulati has already contributed as Vice President, focusing on initiatives to address skill gaps in the automotive workforce.

During his tenure at FADA, Gulati introduced several programs including the Dealer Satisfaction Study and platforms such as GenX and Women in FADA. His work at ASDC has centered on vocational training, certifications, and skill programs aligned with emerging technologies including electric vehicles, advanced manufacturing, and digital diagnostics.

"It has been an honour to lead ASDC during a period of transformation for the automotive sector," said outgoing President F R Singhvi. "We have laid a strong foundation in skill development, and I am confident that under Mr. Gulati's leadership, ASDC will continue to empower the youth with future-ready skills."

Gulati acknowledged the challenges ahead, stating that rapid technological changes and the rise of electric mobility make skill development increasingly critical. His priorities include delivering industry-relevant training, enhancing youth employability, and preparing India's workforce for global competitiveness.

The ASDC operates under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship as the apex body for automotive sector skill development. The organization focuses on creating training programs that align with industry requirements and emerging technologies.

The leadership change reflects the automotive sector's evolution as it adapts to new technologies and market demands. The council aims to ensure that workforce development keeps pace with industry transformation while addressing the growing need for specialized skills in areas such as electric vehicle maintenance, advanced manufacturing, and digital automotive systems.

With the new appointment, ASDC continues its mission to build a skilled workforce capable of meeting the evolving demands of India's automotive and mobility ecosystem.
