AXOR, the premium helmet brand under Vega Auto, has announced the launch of the AXOR MX Carbon, introducing what the company states is the world’s lightest triple-certified off-road riding helmet.
Designed and manufactured at Vega Auto's facilities in Belagavi, Karnataka, the helmet features a predominantly carbon-fibre shell construction. In a large shell size, the MX Carbon weighs approximately 1,050 grams (plus or minus 50 grams), with smaller shell sizes expected to weigh about 50 grams less, while fulfilling ECE 22.06, DOT, and ISI homologation and certification requirements.
The reduced weight is aimed at minimizing rider fatigue during extended off-road riding and across technical terrain without compromising crash-protection standards. To support advanced material fabrication, the company said that it recently invested approximately Rs 2 crore in its composite manufacturing infrastructure, expanding its composite division to three times its 2020 operating capacity.
"The engineering challenge with the MX Carbon was not simply to make a lighter helmet. It was to optimise the material, construction and manufacturing process to achieve a significantly reduced weight while meeting the required certification standards," said Girdhari Chandak, Managing Director of Vega Auto.
