VE Commercial Vehicles December sales up 3.7% YoY
Domestic sales of Eicher-branded trucks and buses remained almost flat at 7,545 units, while Volvo-branded truck and sales rose 21.9% to 289 units.
Eicher Motors Ltd on Wednesday said VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd recorded a growth of 3.7% in its total sales during December on a year-on-year basis. VECV is a joint venture between Eicher Motors and Volvo Group that sells trucks and buses under the Eicher and Volvo (in India) brands.
The company sold a total of 8,324 Eicher and Volvo branded trucks and buses during the month, against 8,026 units. Total sales of Eicher trucks and buses during December came in at 8,035 units, up 3.2% on year, while sales of Volvo trucks and buses rose 21.9% to 289 units.
Eicher’s domestic sales remained flat at 7,545 units, compared with 7,468 units in the same month last year, while exports increased 52.6% to 490 units.
In the domestic market, Eicher’s light and medium duty truck (3.5-18.5T) sales stood at 3,641 units in December 2024, against 3,868 units, translating into a decline of 5.9%. Sales of heavy-duty trucks (18.5T or more) was at 2,137 units, up 2.3% from 2,088 units in December 2023.
Eicher’s light and medium-duty bus segment recorded 18.4% on-year growth in domestic sales to 1,582 units while the heavy-duty bus segment sales also rose 5.1% to 185 units.
In the first nine of the financial year, VECV registered growth of 2.8% on year to 61,486 units.
VECV has nine manufacturing facilities in India and a dealership network of over 990 touchpoints. Apart from manufacturing Eicher trucks and buses, VECV manufactures engines for Volvo Group and have non-automotive engines and component business. The company is exporting to over 40 countries.
