Varroc appoints Dr. Karl-Heinz Glander as head of R&D for Business II

With 20 years of industry experience, Dr. Glander will lead innovation in advanced driver assistance systems, cockpit electronics, and connected vehicle technologies, reporting to CEO Dhruv Jain.

Varroc, a global tier-1 automotive supplier, has announced the appointment of Dr. Karl-Heinz Glander as the Head of Research and Development for Business II. Dr. Glander, who will be based in Germany, will report to Dhruv Jain, CEO of Varroc Business II.

In his new role, Dr. Glander will oversee R&D activities for Business II, focusing on developing advanced technologies such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS), Driver and Occupant Monitoring Systems (DOMS), cockpit electronics, video telematics, and fleet management systems for the automotive industry. His responsibilities will include driving the R&D strategy, promoting innovation, and enhancing the company's global market competitiveness.

Dr. Glander expressed his interest in Varroc's plans to enter innovative markets related to active and integrated safety, as well as the increasing integration of connected services within vehicles. He mentioned his background in active and passive safety, as well as in the navigation business, as assets he brings to his new role.

With a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Bonn, Germany, Dr. Glander has 20 years of experience in the automotive sector. His expertise spans research and development, advanced technology, product innovation, and series development for mass production.

Dr. Glander is also an intacs-certified Provisional Assessor for Automotive SPICE® and has knowledge of process-oriented development within the automotive industry, including agile and classic project management, ASPICE, ISO 26262, and ISO/SAE 21434. Prior to joining Varroc, he worked with companies such as Aptiv, ZF Automotive/TRW, and Siemens VDO/Continental.
