French automotive supplier Valeo has been selected by an unnamed Indian automaker to supply its Valeo Smart Safety 360 (VSS360) advanced driver assistance system for commercial vehicles in the country.
The ADAS system will be manufactured at Valeo’s facility in Sanand, Gujarat, and has been developed specifically for Indian operating conditions and regulatory requirements.
According to the company, the VSS360 package includes features such as Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning and Driver Drowsiness & Attention Warning. The system also incorporates Moving Off Information System and Blind Spot Information System functions aimed at improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists around commercial vehicles.
Valeo said the system combines radar fusion and a smart front camera into a single-box architecture, eliminating the need for separate electronic control units and allowing easier integration into existing vehicle platforms. The setup includes three radars and one camera developed and integrated by the supplier.
The company added that the system supports over-the-air software updates and has been designed to operate across both 12V and 24V vehicle architectures through its Univolt Camera, enabling deployment across light commercial vehicles and heavy-duty trucks.
“This award demonstrates how our high-end ADAS technology can perform in demanding environments while improving road safety,” said Marc Vrecko, CEO of Valeo Brain Division. “India is a cornerstone of our ‘Elevate 2028’ strategy, and we are focused on providing scalable and cost-optimised safety solutions suited to local requirements.”
Jayakumar G, Group President and Managing Director of Valeo India, said regulatory developments are expected to support wider adoption of ADAS technologies in the Indian commercial vehicle segment.
