Valeo to Showcase Truck Electrification and Autonomy Technologies at IAA Transportation 2026

The French automotive supplier will present electric powertrain, ADAS, and software-defined vehicle solutions for heavy-duty and light commercial vehicles in Hanover this September.

Valeo will exhibit its latest commercial vehicle technologies at IAA Transportation 2026, taking place September 14–20 at Hanover Messe in Germany. The Paris-based automotive supplier will occupy Hall 20, booth 30, presenting solutions across vehicle electrification, driver assistance systems, and software-defined vehicle architecture — three areas the company has identified as central to the commercial vehicle industry's near-term transformation.

IAA Transportation is one of the transport sector's principal trade events, held every two years in Hanover. It brings together commercial vehicle manufacturers, fleet operators, logistics companies, and technology suppliers from across the world, serving as a key platform for announcing partnerships, products, and strategic directions for the industry.

The commercial vehicle sector is facing a convergence of pressures: tightening emissions regulations in Europe and other major markets, evolving road safety mandates, rising fuel and operational costs, and a gradual but accelerating shift toward autonomous transport. Fleet operators are increasingly looking to suppliers for hardware and software that can reduce total cost of ownership while meeting compliance requirements. Valeo is positioning its IAA exhibit around this set of challenges.

Valeo's Electric Powertrain Push for Last-Mile Delivery

Valeo's exhibit will cover both heavy-duty trucks and light commercial vehicles. On the electrification side, the company is presenting Cyclee™, an electric powertrain system aimed at last-mile delivery and urban cargo mobility. The system is designed to function as an extension of long-haul trucking infrastructure, supporting zero-emission logistics operations within cities — a segment under particular regulatory scrutiny in Europe, where urban low-emission zones are becoming more prevalent.

Valeo's Level 4 ADAS and Autonomy Technology for Trucks

For driver assistance, Valeo is presenting sensor, sensor-cleaning, and computing technology capable of supporting autonomy levels up to Level 4 — a classification under which a vehicle can manage most driving tasks without human intervention within defined operational conditions. Full Level 4 deployment in commercial trucking remains limited, but the underlying technology stack is increasingly being adopted for lower-level assistance functions such as lane-keeping, emergency braking, and platooning. Valeo says it has seen a measurable increase in orders for ADAS-related technology in the commercial vehicle segment since the previous IAA Transportation in 2024, citing safety regulation and driver shortage pressures as key demand drivers.

Adaptive Driving Beam and Driver Monitoring Systems for GSR II Compliance

Two specific safety technologies will feature prominently at the booth. The first is an Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) lighting system, which automatically reshapes high-beam headlights to illuminate the road ahead while avoiding glare for oncoming drivers. The technology has been standard in passenger vehicles for several years and is now being introduced to the commercial vehicle market, where longer operating hours and highway driving make nighttime visibility particularly relevant. The second is a Driver Monitoring System (DMS) for in-cabin use, which tracks indicators of drowsiness and distraction in real time. Both products are designed to meet the requirements of the EU's General Safety Regulation II (GSR II) and the updated NCAP 2026 assessment standards, which expand safety criteria beyond crash performance to include driver assistance and monitoring capabilities.

Valeo's commercial vehicle presence also extends to more established product lines, including lighting systems, wiper systems, thermal management, and powertrain components — categories in which the company has supplied truck manufacturers for decades. The company says it is maintaining its position in these segments while scaling investment in electrification, ADAS, and software-defined vehicle technologies.

Valeo's Software-Defined Vehicle Roadmap for Commercial Trucks

Software-defined vehicles — trucks in which core functions are governed and updatable through software rather than fixed hardware — represent a longer-term structural shift in how commercial vehicles are engineered and maintained. Valeo is presenting its SDV capabilities as part of its broader commercial vehicle offering, though widespread adoption of fully software-defined truck architectures is expected to unfold gradually over the coming years.

IAA Transportation 2026 opens to trade visitors on September 14 and runs through September 20.
