Valeo achieves production milestone of 20 million front camera systems with Mobileye technology

Valeo, a global leader in advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS), marked a significant achievement by producing its 20 millionth front camera system incorporating Mobileye technology. This milestone follows closely on the heels of the 10 millionth front camera produced in November 2022.

The collaboration between Valeo and Mobileye began in 2015 when Valeo chose to integrate the Mobileye system-on-chip (SoC), named "EyeQ," into its front camera system hardware and software. This collaboration has played a pivotal role in advancing driving assistance systems by elevating computer vision technology in the automotive industry. Together, Valeo and Mobileye have developed and manufactured multiple generations of front camera systems, with the current focus on integrating the latest generation of the Mobileye SoC into Valeo's front camera system and cutting-edge centralised computer and software.

The front camera system, utilising the Mobileye EyeQ, enhances road user safety by supporting critical features such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and traffic sign recognition. This system is a key enabler in meeting safety requirements set by authorities worldwide, and it is anticipated that by 2030, approximately 90% of all new cars will be equipped with advanced driver assistance technology.

Marc Vrecko, President of Valeo’s Comfort and Driving Assistance Systems Business Group, expressed pride in reaching this milestone and highlighted Valeo's commitment to making advanced technology both efficient and accessible. He stated, "Front cameras are one of the key technologies for enhanced safety and will soon be set up on all vehicles. We are very proud to have reached this new milestone in the ramp-up of our production and in our partnership with Mobileye."

Nimrod Nehushtan, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at Mobileye, emphasised the ongoing success of their collaboration and the opportunities ahead. He stated, "We look forward to working with Valeo with the next-generation Mobileye EyeQ6 system-on-chip going into full production next year."

As over 90% of road accidents are caused by human error, ADAS plays a crucial role in transforming mobility by enhancing safety and comfort. The ADAS market is projected to grow by 17% annually, reaching 60 billion euros in 2030. Valeo, with the most comprehensive portfolio of sensors, software, and intelligence in the market, continues to lead the way in advancing automotive safety technology. In addition to their collaboration on cameras, Mobileye and Valeo recently announced a new partnership on software-defined imaging radars to support the next generation of driver assist and automated driving features.
