Uno Minda to Invest ₹200 Crore in New Two-Wheeler Alloy Wheel Facility in Haryana
Auto component giant expands manufacturing footprint with 1.5 million wheel capacity, strengthening its position in the growing two-wheeler market
Uno Minda Limited, a leading automotive technology supplier, has announced plans to establish a new manufacturing facility for two-wheeler alloy wheels in Bawal, Haryana with an investment of approximately ₹200 crore. The company's Board of Directors has approved the project, which will have an installed production capacity of 1.5 million alloy wheels annually.
The investment will be financed through a combination of debt and internal accruals, with operations expected to begin by the second quarter of FY 2027. The expansion comes in response to recently secured orders and increasing market demand for two-wheeler alloy wheels.
Simultaneously, Uno Minda has commenced commercial production at its expansion project in Supa, Maharashtra, adding 2 million wheels to its annual production capacity. This expansion was initially announced in May 2024.
The company first entered the two-wheeler alloy wheel segment in FY 2021 with a greenfield facility in Supa, Maharashtra, starting with an initial capacity of 4 million wheels. Since then, Uno Minda has nearly doubled its Supa facility's capacity to 8 million units.
With the completion of the new Bawal facility, Uno Minda's total installed capacity for two-wheeler alloy wheels will increase to approximately 9.5 million wheels per annum, further strengthening its market position.
These strategic expansions align with the government's Make in India initiative, as the company has significantly contributed to reducing the country's dependence on imported two-wheeler alloy wheels through consistent investment and focus on localization.
Established in 1958, Uno Minda has grown into a global automotive components manufacturer with 74 manufacturing facilities across six countries and 37 R&D centers worldwide. The company manufactures over 25 categories of components and systems for all vehicle segments, including both internal combustion engines and electric/hybrid vehicles.
The company has carved out leadership positions in automotive switching systems, lighting systems, acoustics systems, seating systems, and alloy wheels. Its global presence is further enhanced through 19 joint ventures and technical agreements with manufacturers from Japan, Germany, Korea, and China.
Uno Minda's expansion strategy reflects its commitment to technological innovation and market leadership in India's evolving automotive component industry, where both domestic and export markets show promising growth potential as vehicle manufacturers increase their focus on quality components and supply chain resilience.
