Uno Minda reported a 36.6 percent year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 440.81 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with Rs 322.79 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Consolidated revenue from operations increased 38.3 percent to Rs 6,655.42 crore, up from Rs 4,814.03 crore in Q2 FY26. Total income, including other income, stood at Rs 6,659.92 crore.
However, the increase in revenue was accompanied by higher operating expenses, particularly the cost of raw materials and components. Total expenses rose 37.2 percent year on year to Rs 6,148.90 crore from Rs 4,481.08 crore.
The company's profit before tax increased 39.5 percent to Rs 570.79 crore, compared with Rs 409.25 crore in the year-ago quarter. The growth in net profit was lower than the increase in pre-tax profit, partly reflecting a higher tax outgo during the quarter.
Higher material costs weigh on expense base
Raw material and component consumption, the largest expense category, increased 41.5 percent to Rs 4,061.85 crore from Rs 2,870.61 crore in Q2 FY26. Purchases of traded goods also more than doubled to Rs 383.21 crore, compared with Rs 177.62 crore a year earlier.
Employee benefit expenses rose 18.5 percent to Rs 753.25 crore, while other expenses increased 25.3 percent to Rs 669.71 crore. Depreciation and amortisation expenses were marginally higher at Rs 178.05 crore, against Rs 173.42 crore in the corresponding quarter.
Finance costs increased to Rs 48.70 crore from Rs 45.39 crore.
The increase in the overall expense base was slightly lower than revenue growth, although the higher raw material and traded goods costs remained significant contributors to expenditure.
Six-month profit increases 19.7%
For the six months ended September 30, 2026, Uno Minda's consolidated revenue from operations increased 31.3 percent to Rs 12,212.27 crore, compared with Rs 9,303.12 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Total expenses rose 31.6 percent to Rs 11,356.76 crore. Profit before tax increased 20.4 percent to Rs 973.64 crore, while net profit grew 19.7 percent to Rs 756.32 crore from Rs 631.82 crore in the first half of FY26.
The company's share of profit from associates and joint ventures stood at Rs 59.77 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with Rs 63.37 crore in the year-ago quarter.
Separately, Uno Minda's board approved an additional capital investment of approximately Rs 85 crore to expand sunroof manufacturing capacity at its Bawal facility in Haryana. The expansion is intended to meet incremental customer orders and demand for advanced sunroof systems in the Indian passenger vehicle market. The additional capacity is expected to be commissioned by Q2 FY28.
The company also announced leadership changes, including the appointment of Nitesh Minda as CEO-designate of the SCS Domain, ahead of the planned retirement of incumbent CEO A.G. Giridharan.
