Uno Minda, a Tier 1 supplier of automotive components to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), has launched a range of trumpet horns for the Indian aftermarket. The lineup comprises five models across 80mm and 90mm diameter categories, targeting passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles, and heavy commercial fleets. The products are available through leading retail outlets and online platforms including Amazon, Flipkart, and Unomindakart, with prices starting at ₹800 and going up to ₹3,400.
The launch comes as demand for reliable aftermarket horn solutions has risen in tandem with growth in India's vehicle population and increasing road congestion in urban and semi-urban areas. Vehicle horns, while often viewed as secondary components, are recognised as safety-critical devices that support driver awareness and road communication. The company says the new range has been developed to address a gap in the aftermarket for products that match OE-grade quality standards while offering broader accessibility across vehicle segments and price points.
The range includes the E80 12V Electronic Trumpet Horn at the upper end, which features an integrated electronic chip for consistent sound output, reverse polarity protection, and plug-and-play installation. The company has backed this model with a three-year warranty from the date of manufacture, positioning it as a long-service option for users seeking reliability without frequent replacements.
Two variants of the T80 12V Vertical Trumpet Horn are also part of the lineup — one with a protective grill and one without. Both are designed with a vertical, space-saving form factor suited to vehicles with limited installation space, and carry dust and splash resistance for use in varied road conditions. The without-grill variant has been engineered for what the company describes as harmonious and far-reaching sound audibility, while the grilled version emphasises physical protection of the horn unit.
A fourth model, the T80 12V Trumpet Horn, is positioned as a general-use option with universal fitment and ABS construction, suited to both passenger and light commercial vehicles. It targets buyers who require straightforward, compatible replacements without the additional features of the premium variants. The company describes it as suitable for fleet operators and individual vehicle owners alike who prioritise durability and value.
For commercial vehicle applications, Uno Minda has introduced what it calls the T90 24V Melody Trumpet Horn — a product the company describes as first-of-its-kind in its category. Designed to replace conventional pipe horns used in heavy vehicles, it offers eight selectable tones and operates on a 24V system standard to commercial vehicle electrical configurations. The product targets fleet operators who require consistent performance in high-traffic conditions and on highways, while also offering the option of audio differentiation through its multiple tone settings.
Anand Kumar, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Uno Minda's aftermarket division, said the launch was driven by increasing traffic congestion and varied road environments that have made reliable on-road communication more critical than before. "Clear and effective on-road communication has become increasingly important with rising traffic congestion and varied driving environments," he said. "We have launched a new range of trumpet horns in the 80 and 90 dia category from performance to premium range, catering to all major segments of vehicles."
The company states that all models in the range have been manufactured using materials subjected to quality testing for resistance to heat, dust, moisture, and vibration — conditions routinely encountered across Indian road environments. Uno Minda adds that installation has been designed to be compatible across multiple vehicle platforms, reducing the need for specialised fitment.
The aftermarket horn segment in India forms part of a wider vehicle accessories and replacement parts market that has expanded alongside the country's growing vehicle parc, which includes a large proportion of ageing two-wheelers, passenger cars, and commercial vehicles requiring periodic component replacement. Aftermarket suppliers have increasingly sought to offer products that meet OEM-equivalent specifications as consumers become more quality-conscious in their purchasing decisions.
Uno Minda was established in 1958 and operates 72 manufacturing plants. Its aftermarket division covers more than 30 product categories — including switches, lighting, sensors, batteries, alloy wheels, and seating — and distributes through over 1,400 business partners, 40,000 retailers, and 70,000 service points across 600-plus districts in India. The company also maintains a presence in Europe, the United States, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, with dedicated export offices in Dubai and Indonesia.
