UNO Minda launches 1080p DVR 2.0 with ADAS for enhanced driver safety
UNO Minda introduces its Car DVR 2.0 in the Indian aftermarket, equipped with 1080p resolution, ADAS features, and real-time alerts, designed to assist drivers in avoiding road hazards and improving overall driving safety.
Road safety continues to be a major issue in India, with high rates of traffic accidents attributed to factors such as reckless driving and limited awareness of traffic regulations. In response, the Indian government has implemented various initiatives, including AI-powered cameras that monitor infractions like lane drifting and distracted driving. With the demand for safety technology projected to surpass USD 200 billion by 2033, ADAS-equipped DVRs are increasingly viewed as essential tools for accident prevention and safer roadways. These devices provide drivers with real-time alerts on potential hazards, including lane departures, proximity to other vehicles, and speeding.
Uno Minda, a prominent Tier 1 supplier of proprietary automotive solutions to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), has launched a Car DVR 2.0 equipped with Level 2 ADAS features and 1080p resolution for the Indian aftermarket. This new DVR aims to enhance driver safety through real-time alerts and monitoring, helping to reduce accident risks.
Rakesh Kher, CEO of Uno Minda’s Aftermarket Division, explained, “At Uno Minda, we focus on providing technology-driven products in the aftermarket to help our customers improve safety on the road. The DVR 2.0 introduces features such as Lane Departure Warning and Forward Vehicle Too Close Alert, designed to assist drivers in navigating potential risks.”
The Uno Minda DVR 2.0 is equipped with a high-resolution 1080p lens that captures details clearly, while its design supports expandable storage with SD cards up to 128 GB for ample recording capacity. Operating at a low power consumption of 0.2 watts, it is designed to work without significantly affecting the vehicle’s battery life. The DVR offers a 170-degree wide-angle lens for a broader view of the surroundings and features loop recording, which automatically overwrites older footage to maintain continuous storage availability. Additionally, the device connects to Android infotainment systems through USB, with a dedicated app preloaded for ease of use, providing key driving information directly on the screen.
Constructed from metal and ABS material, the DVR 2.0 is built for durability and is IP67 rated for resistance against dust and water. It is available at leading online and offline retailers at a price of Rs. 8,999 and includes a one-year warranty.
