Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ultraviolette Automotive on Thursday launched the X-47 Venom at an introductory price of Rs 2.65 lakh for the first 5,000 customers, expanding its premium electric motorcycle portfolio with a new platform that offers higher range, improved performance and reduced weight.

The motorcycle has a regular starting price of Rs 3 lakh and is built on Ultraviolette's newly developed VX100 100-volt architecture, making it the first motorcycle based on the new platform. It offers a claimed Indian Driving Cycle (IDC) range of up to 343 km on a single charge, compared with 323 km on the earlier X-47 Crossover.

The company opened bookings for the motorcycle at 4 pm on October 22 through its website, with sales also available through UV Space Stations across India. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in November 2026. The motorcycle will make its European debut on November 3 at the EICMA motorcycle exhibition in Milan. Ultraviolette already exports motorcycles to 20 European countries, including Germany, France, Spain, Italy and the UK.

The X-47 Venom will be offered with battery options of around 7 kWh and 11 kWh. The motorcycle will come equipped with the SRB11 battery pack, developed under the new VX100 architecture. Ultraviolette said the new 100-volt battery system offers up to 20% higher energy density, while being approximately 15% lighter than the previous-generation pack.

According to the company, improvements in battery cooling and thermal management have also enabled twice the cooling performance and faster charging. The revised thermal system is designed to dissipate heat up to 50% faster, helping maintain performance during sustained riding and in high temperatures.

The battery pack also uses a cast-aluminium housing for structural strength and impact protection. It carries an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. The architecture has been designed to accommodate different battery capacities, power levels and vehicle configurations, allowing Ultraviolette to use it across future products.

The new battery system supports DC charging at up to 12 kW. Ultraviolette claims the X-47 Venom is the only electric two-wheeler in India currently capable of supporting 12 kW external DC fast charging. The charging system incorporates safeguards against overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, excessive temperatures and short circuits.

The new platform also incorporates a lighter electric motor and an in-house-developed motor controller using silicon carbide power electronics. The newly developed motor, called UV LIGHTFURY, uses soft magnetic composite materials and has been designed to deliver higher power density while reducing weight and energy losses.

The new motor control unit is also claimed to be twice as compact as its predecessor while delivering three times the power density, allowing the company to reduce the size and weight of the powertrain assembly.

Ultraviolette said these changes have helped reduce the motorcycle's overall weight by approximately 20 kg compared with the previous platform. The X-47 Venom has a claimed kerb weight of 180 kg.

“At Ultraviolette, design, engineering and technology have always evolved together, each pushing the other to unlock new possibilities. We constantly challenge ourselves to deliver greater performance, build more intelligence into our motorcycles and make every component lighter and more efficient. VX-100 is the outcome of that approach, establishing a technology foundation for a new generation of products across segments and markets,” Narayan Subramaniam, CEO and Co-founder, Ultraviolette, said.

The X-47 Venom develops a claimed 40 hp (30 kW) and 550 Nm of torque at the rear wheel. It has a claimed top speed of 155 km/h and can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The company also claims a zero-to-60 km/h acceleration time of 2.7 seconds. The motorcycle offers 200 mm of ground clearance.

The motorcycle also offers nine levels of regenerative braking, with the company claiming improved energy recovery across a wider range of battery charge levels. The revised thermal management system allows regenerative braking to remain active even when the battery is close to zero or fully charged.

In terms of safety, Ultraviolette has introduced a pyrofuse protection system designed to rapidly disconnect the battery's high-voltage electrical circuit when an abnormal condition is detected. The system works alongside a battery management system that continuously monitors individual cell voltage, temperature and current. The battery pack also incorporates cell-level fuses for additional protection.

The X-47 Venom also carries forward Ultraviolette's radar-based rider-assistance technology, which provides blind-spot monitoring, rear collision warnings, lane-change assistance and overtake alerts.

The UV Hypersense system uses a 77 GHz rear radar with a claimed detection range of up to 200 metres. According to the company, the radar can compensate for motorcycle lean angles of up to 20 degrees, along with changes in roll and pitch. During a potential rear collision, the system can warn the rider through the integrated mirrors while activating the motorcycle's hazard lights to alert approaching vehicles.

Other equipment includes integrated front and rear dashcams, a seven-inch TFT LCD touchscreen instrument cluster, cruise control, four levels of traction control, switchable dual-channel ABS, hill-hold assist and a 1.6 kW onboard charger that allows the motorcycle to use a standard 16-amp power socket.

The motorcycle also gets Park Assist, which uses the rear camera to improve visibility while manoeuvring in tight spaces. Its navigation system is integrated with Mappls, while connected features allow communication between the motorcycle and a companion smartphone application, along with software updates.

Ultraviolette has also introduced its VIOLETTE A.I. connected technology package, which offers movement, fall and towing alerts, remote lockdown, crash alerts, Delta Watch and an anti-collision warning system.

The company has also introduced a lithium-ion auxiliary battery in place of the conventional lead-acid unit, aimed at reducing failures associated with auxiliary battery discharge. It announced extendable warranty coverage of up to 8 lakh km, subject to applicable terms.

Alongside the motorcycle, Ultraviolette unveiled the B-Max airbag vest, an accessory designed to offer additional protection to riders during accidents. The mechanically activated system uses a tether connected to the motorcycle and is designed to inflate within 200 milliseconds if the rider is thrown off the vehicle.

According to Ultraviolette, the vest offers 86% force attenuation and is designed to protect the neck, chest, back, sides and hips. It incorporates a cervical brace, spinal protection and pressurised chambers for torso impact absorption. The vest does not require a battery and can be reused up to five times, the company said.

The launch marks a further development of Ultraviolette's existing X-47 Crossover, introduced in September 2025. The earlier motorcycle offered 7.1 kWh and 10.3 kWh battery options, a claimed range of up to 323 km and a top speed of 145 km/h.

The new VX100 platform is part of Ultraviolette's broader technology and manufacturing expansion. In September, the company announced plans to invest around Rs 1,000 crore over five years, including Rs 800 crore in a new manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu and Rs 200 crore in expanding existing operations.

The company is targeting annual manufacturing capacity of approximately 300,000 vehicles by mid-2027, with the new facility eventually capable of producing 500,000 vehicles a year. Its product roadmap includes four electric motorcycles and two scooters.

Ultraviolette also raised $85 million in September 2026 from investors led by Yali Capital and TDK Ventures to support manufacturing, new vehicle platforms and overseas expansion. The company currently sells the F77 and X-47 motorcycles and is preparing to introduce the Tesseract electric scooter and Shockwave motorcycle in 2027.
