TVS Motor Posts Record Q1 Sales of 1.63 Million Units

TVS Motor Company (TVSM), part of TVS VENU, closed the first quarter of FY 2026-27 with total sales of 16.31 lakh units, its highest-ever quarterly figure. The performance was underpinned by broad-based growth across two-wheelers, three-wheelers and international markets, alongside a sharp acceleration in electric vehicle volumes.

Quarterly performance

Two-wheeler sales for the quarter rose 27% to 15.64 lakh units, up from 12.32 lakh units in the same period last year. Three-wheeler sales grew at a faster clip of 48%, reaching 0.67 lakh units against 0.45 lakh units a year earlier. International business expanded 33% to 4.68 lakh units, compared with 3.52 lakh units in Q1 FY26 — the company's highest quarterly international sales on record. Two-wheeler EV sales for the quarter touched 1.30 lakh units, also a company high.

June 2026 sales

Monthly sales for June came in at 5,90,003 units, a 47% increase over 4,02,001 units in June 2025 — TVSM's highest-ever monthly sales figure.

Within two-wheelers, total volumes rose 47% to 5,65,417 units against 3,85,698 units a year ago. Domestic two-wheeler sales grew 46% to 4,11,014 units, from 2,81,012 units in June 2025. Motorcycles increased 42% to 2,67,096 units, while scooters climbed 53% to 2,47,950 units, continuing a pattern of scooters outpacing motorcycles in growth rate for the month.

Two-wheeler EV sales showed the steepest gain, rising to 48,537 units in June 2026 from 14,400 units a year earlier — a more than threefold increase.

International business sales for the month grew 47% to 1,72,355 units, from 1,17,145 units in June 2025, with two-wheeler exports up 48% to 1,54,403 units. Three-wheeler sales rose 51% to 24,586 units, compared with 16,303 units in the year-ago month.

Reading the numbers

The June performance marks the strongest monthly growth rate reported by the company in the current fiscal year so far, with all major segments — domestic two-wheelers, exports, three-wheelers and EVs — posting double-digit or higher percentage gains. The EV segment's growth rate significantly outpaced the company's overall two-wheeler growth, indicating a widening share of electric models within TVSM's monthly mix. International sales growth also outpaced domestic two-wheeler growth for the month, suggesting export markets contributed disproportionately to the overall gain.
