TSUYO Unveils Next-Generation EV Powertrain Technologies for India's Three-Wheeler Market

TSUYO Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd., an electric powertrain manufacturer based in Greater Noida, announced on Saturday the launch of a new generation of electric motor and powertrain technologies aimed at the three-wheeler and light commercial vehicle segments. The company said the new portfolio is intended to shift India's EV adoption from assembly-driven models toward domestically engineered solutions.

At the centre of the announcement is TSUYO's Gen 3.0 Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM) motor and controller architecture. The company stated the design incorporates external Hall sensor placement, split-phase cabling, and an aluminium cast controller housing to improve thermal performance, servicing ease, and system durability. An upgraded MOSFET configuration is said to extend suitability to high-performance EV applications, while an LED-based fault indication system is positioned as a simplification for field diagnostics.

The company also unveiled what it describes as India's first Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) solution for electric three-wheelers. TSUYO said the system is designed to extend range, improve load handling, and enhance gradeability, allowing smaller motors to operate more efficiently across varied terrain and load conditions common in Indian urban and semi-urban environments.

Among the other products introduced was a patented Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM) that does not rely on rare-earth magnets. TSUYO indicated the motor uses a novel rotor architecture and is intended to reduce dependence on imported materials, aligning with the government's Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative. The company separately announced a hairpin winding technology that it claims delivers up to 20 per cent higher motor performance and extended operational life.

The portfolio was rounded out by a flat tube axle with a common gear interface, designed for L3 and Mini-L5 vehicle categories. The company said this component is meant to improve load capacity while reducing parts complexity for fleet operators and manufacturers.

Alongside the product announcements, TSUYO said it would host a partners and distributors' session focused on technical knowledge-sharing across the EV supply chain. The meeting is intended to assist distribution partners in evaluating powertrain solutions and is expected to feature commentary from industry figures on end-user needs and collaborative approaches to scaling sustainable electric mobility in India.

Tsuyo Manufacturing Private Limited is an Indian electric powertrain manufacturer supplying motors, controllers, and integrated systems ranging from 0.5 kW to 350 kW for three-wheeler, light commercial, and off-road vehicle segments. The company operates two manufacturing facilities in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and has shipped over 200,000 motors to more than 50 OEM partners over the past four years. Tsuyo collaborates with IITs, NITs, and international research institutions on product development.
