Tsuyo Manufacturing Signs LOI with Karnataka Government for New EV Powertrain Facility
The agreement signed at the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025 details Tsuyo Manufacturing’s plan to establish an EV powertrain plant and a testing track in Karnataka, supporting heavy commercial vehicle development and strengthening local manufacturing.
Tsuyo Manufacturing has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Government of Karnataka to establish a new EV powertrain manufacturing facility and a large testing track for commercial vehicles. The signing took place during the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025 in the presence of state officials and industry representatives.
The proposed facility will focus on producing a wide range of electric mobility components, including motors across various topologies, e-drives, e-axles, automatic transmissions, integrated powertrain units, and complete assemblies for heavy commercial EVs. The centre will also feature a dedicated track to support field testing and validation for buses, trucks, mining vehicles, and industrial EV applications.
According to Tsuyo, the plant will support manufacturing capacities from 0.5 kW to 250 kW, with scalability up to 600 kW through partnerships with CETL and LvKON. The company expects the project to strengthen domestic production, enhance supply-chain resilience, and support the country’s expanding heavy commercial EV ecosystem.
The initiative is projected to generate direct and indirect employment while contributing to industrial growth in the state. Company leaders noted that the testing and validation infrastructure will help accelerate the development of India-specific powertrain technologies suited to diverse terrain and usage conditions.
Tsuyo Manufacturing’s leadership described the LOI as an important step in advancing the country’s EV ecosystem. Karnataka government representatives stated that the project aligns with efforts to promote local industry and encourage more EV-focused investments in the region.
