Triumph Motorcycles unveiled the updated Tiger 1200 on October 27, 2026, with changes to the engine, chassis, suspension and rider technology. The update is intended to increase power and refinement, improve road handling and low-speed control, and add rider assistance features.
The motorcycle now has a 158 PS engine, SHOWA EERA HEIGHTFLEX semi-active suspension, a Bosch 7-inch touchscreen, and Bosch front and rear radar.
The Tiger 1200 is expected to be available in India from March 2027 in two variants, GT Pro and Rally Explorer. Pricing will be communicated closer to the booking commencement date.
Engine and Transmission
The 1160 cc T-Plane triple now produces 158 PS at 9,250 rpm, an increase of 8 PS, with peak torque of 130 Nm at 6,750 rpm. Triumph states that the engine changes include a redesigned cylinder head, new pistons, lighter inlet and exhaust valves, revised fuel injection and exhaust, and revised first, second and third gear ratios.
More torque at low engine speeds, together with revised primary and final-drive ratios, reduces crawl speed by 6 km/h. The six-speed gearbox and shaft drive have also been refined.
Chassis and Suspension
Both models use a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination with 200mm of suspension travel. The SHOWA EERA HEIGHTFLEX semi-active suspension has three selectable damping settings: Firm, Medium and Soft.
A new hydraulic secondary bump stop has been added. Brembo Stylema brakes with a Magura HC1 radial master cylinder are retained.
Seat Height
The automatic ride height function lowers the seat by 30mm as the motorcycle comes to a stop. A two-position seat provides a further 20mm of adjustment, and a new low seat reduces seat height by another 20mm. With the low seat fitted and the automatic function active, the seat height at a standstill is 790mm.
The low seat is standard in selected markets and available as an accessory in others. The suspension also supports a Centre Stand Assist function, which temporarily increases preload when the centre stand is deployed.
Connectivity
The new Bosch 7-inch TFT touchscreen supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It can be operated by touchscreen at speeds below 2 km/h, through the switch cubes while riding, or by voice control via Siri for iPhone and Google Gemini for Android Auto.
A compatible Bluetooth headset is required for the full benefits of the system. The display has an IP6K9K dust and waterproof rating. A waterproof phone compartment on the fuel tank has a USB-C connection providing up to 3A/15W charging, with a cooling fan.
Rider Assistance
Front and rear radar, developed in partnership with Bosch, enable a new suite of Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS). The suite comprises:
- Adaptive Cruise Control, including Overtake Assist and Curve Speed Control
- Group Ride Assist
- Riding Distance Assist
- Forward Collision Warning
- Emergency Brake Assist
- Blind Spot Assist
- Rear Distance Warning
A separate Dynamic Cruise Control mode maintains the rider’s selected speed. These functions work alongside Optimised Cornering ABS and Traction Control.
Chief Product Officer for Triumph Motorcycles Steve Sargent said: “It’s more powerful, more accessible and more advanced… Our customers are asking for top-tier technology, but they want it to be intuitive and unobtrusive, so that’s exactly what we’ve set out to deliver."
“We’re the first manufacturer to fully implement SHOWA EERA HEIGHTFLEX, and one of the first to validate Apple CarPlay and Android Auto specifically for motorcycle use. Our engineers have worked closely with Bosch to develop the radar technology specifically for Triumph motorcycles… We’ve also made big changes to the chassis and refined the engine,” he added.
Design
The bodywork has been redesigned, including the fuel tank, radiator cowls, beak and windscreen. A new compact adaptive LED projector headlight activates additional LED elements at 15 and 30 degrees of lean to illuminate the inside of a bend. The rear has multifunction LED units that integrate the indicators and tail-lights.
Variants
- GT Pro: cast aluminium wheels, 20-litre fuel tank, 250 kg wet weight, seven riding modes. Colours: Sapphire Black, or Aluminium Silver/Pacific Blue.

Heated rider and pillion seats and three-stage heated grips are standard across the range. The seats have 10mm thicker foam. The service interval is 16,000 km (10,000 miles) or 12 months, whichever comes first.
