Maruti Suzuki and Toyota continue to explore ways to sustain and enhance their partnership, navigating the evolving automotive landscape together. Since they began collaborating in 2017, the two companies have worked on various projects, including cross-badging models, sharing resources, and leveraging each other’s strengths to reach broader consumer bases in India and beyond. By sharing technologies and development resources, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota have aimed to optimise production costs and expand their market reach, especially in the growing segments of hybrid and electric vehicles.
The partnership’s cross-badging initiatives have resulted in models like the Toyota Glanza (based on Maruti Suzuki’s Baleno) and the Toyota Urban Cruiser (based on Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza). These vehicles are intended to maximise each brand’s presence without requiring individual platform investments, allowing both companies to adapt to market demands efficiently.
Looking forward, both Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are expected to collaborate further in areas such as green technologies, manufacturing synergies, and supply chain optimisation, recognising the potential for mutual benefit in developing low-emission and affordable vehicles. As the industry faces shifts toward sustainability and digitalisation, the two companies remain committed to finding shared value through their alliance.
