thyssenkrupp Automotive Technology inaugurated its new engineering center in Pune on October 8, 2026, as part of the expansion of its global research and development network, after an initial build-up phase that began with the site’s announcement in 2025.
More than 120 engineers are already working at the site across software, hardware, systems and mechanical development for international customer programs. The company plans to grow the Pune team to more than 300 employees over the coming years.
The center works on embedded systems, functional safety, cybersecurity and advanced chassis technologies, including next-generation steering and chassis systems. Engineers in Pune work with international development teams and contribute to global customer projects throughout the development lifecycle.

With our new engineering center in Pune, we are strengthening precisely these capabilities and creating additional development capacity for our customers worldwide,” said Viktor Molnar, COO of thyssenkrupp Automotive Technology. “India offers an outstanding pool of engineering and software talent and will play an increasingly important role in our global development network.”

The company selected Pune for its established automotive industry, engineering and software ecosystem, leading universities and pool of qualified talent. The center is located in the Solitaire Business Hub 2 in Pune’s Baner-Balewadi business district.
The center is part of the company’s wider expansion in India, which it also treats as a sourcing hub. thyssenkrupp Automotive Technology is establishing a sales team in Pune to strengthen its presence with Indian automotive manufacturers and develop additional business in the local market.
Subject to the successful acquisition of corresponding customer projects, the company also intends to establish local production capabilities in India.
The company is a system partner to the global automotive industry, with four business units: Chassis, Components, Aftermarket and Forging. In fiscal year 2024/2025, it employed approximately 28,900 people and generated sales of €7 billion.
