Thunder Plus has launched India’s first EV charging station within a public post office in Hyderabad, in collaboration with the Department of Post, Government of India.

The station is located at the Sainikpuri Head Post Office in Hyderabad and was inaugurated on September 10, 2024. The event was attended by Sreelatha, Chief Postmaster General of Telangana, along with Rajeev YSR, CEO of Thunder Plus Charging Solutions.

Rajeev YSR expressed that this initiative is an important step towards promoting sustainable mobility in India. He noted that with India Post’s extensive network of infrastructure, converting post offices into EV charging hubs presents opportunities for expanding clean energy infrastructure.

The project is the first of its kind in India and aims to make EV charging more accessible, with plans to equip additional post offices and public campuses across the country with similar solutions. According to Smt. Sreelatha, while India is progressing in EV adoption, infrastructure challenges remain. She highlighted the importance of collaboration between sectors like real estate, electricity, and technology to overcome these hurdles while keeping costs low for consumers. The initiative is viewed as a step toward addressing these challenges through partnerships.
